Hello! I’m Oliver. I’m the Founder of KnitIQ and I’m delighted that you’ve landed on our site – thank you for your visit!

If you’re new to our brand, you might want to know more about us. I know I like to understand more about the companies that I might buy from, so with that in mind, allow me to give you a bit of background starting with me:

I started KnitIQ in 2015 because I was unhappy. I know that’s not a very positive way to start but it’s true. I was living in London, working as a Researcher and tired of the rat race. Big cities are exciting but they can also be exhausting and lonely places.

I was in need of a change

I wanted to find my passion for life again by doing something that brought me joy. So in an ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ type of way, I packed up my apartment in London and headed far away to heal myself somewhere nurturing. I went to Bali.

I found Bali to be a magical place. The slower pace of life helped to focus my mind and my heart. While I was there, I made friends with a knitter, Amber, who had a problem with blocking mats. Or in fact, she didn’t have or knew of any that worked well.

Hearing this sparked an inner child in me - I realised that I could combine my passion for research with my natural creativity to make a product for her that really worked. For the first time in what seemed like ages, I had fire in my belly again! I loved the creative process of developing new products and knew this was something that I wanted to do full-time.

So I took a leap of faith and set up KnitIQ with the goal of creating the best possible blocking solutions to serve knitters, crocheters and lacework enthusiasts all over the world, just like I did for Amber.

The ‘IQ’ in KnitIQ

Since this time, KnitIQ has grown but we remain a small and humble business underpinned by that same approach – to work in collaboration with customers like you, as well as industry experts, to create the best possible blocking tools. It’s a process we care about deeply. It’s why we’re called Knit-IQ!

We want to understand exactly what makers such as you like and what you find frustrating, what new products would make your work more enjoyable, and how existing products can be improved. What equipment would you really, really, like to have to help you work better?

So if you have any thoughts or ideas on how your blocking experience can be improved, please do get in touch. I'd love to hear about it! In the meantime, enjoy our range of products and thank you so much for visiting our site.

Yours sincerely,
